Hi I have decided to get more control over my home after installing some sonos systems through out a lot of my house. I used some of the Bang and Olufsen speakers I had and purchased a few on ebay. I am very happy with that element and then started to look at the other things I could do in the house and now it has really got me excited for a new project.
It all started with the how I turn my living room lights on every night and I thought I could do it better with some light control. I am using bang olufsen light control sensors (x3) for my side lamps but when I enter the room I have to switch the main down lights on go into the room find the remote then switch the side lights on and lastly turn the main lights off.
I want to be able to control my lighting from my iphone and control panel/ remote. I already I want to have a light switch that can do that remotely from the entry point (whatever remote lamp points I go with). I will also control the heating (just the thermostat not zoned) with some form of remote control system also. If it could be integrated then that would be great. I have read about all the systems but I am stuck on what to go with.
I have a victorian (100+ year old) house in london and the wiring on the lighting circuit doesnt have any neutral (common in UK I think). I have about 21 light switches in the house controlling 13 rooms and outdoors also. I dont want any switches that have batteries in them. Also I do not want to rewire the whole house.
I have looked at zwave, Lutron and rako and have discounted ligthwaverf as I dont like their switches (I think they look cheap).
I have gone round in cirlces as there are so many zwave control systems and the others I am unsure to the cost and what it would entail.
Please help as I want to get involved in this scene as I think it will be very much what will be the standard in the future.
