Hello:

I've been lurking on this forum for a couple of months now and I think it is great.

There is so much to learn.

I'm building a new house and I want to have some simple automation capabilities.

My other concern is video distribution.

We time shift all of our broadcast viewing using a PVR.

I just got a quote from a low voltage installer for my complete wish list and it is about 10 times greater than my current budget.

This is going to take some time to build out .

Are you able to do any of the work yourself? If they're building on YOUR lot, that shouldn't be a problem, if you're building in someone else's development, then it probably could be.

Great thread! Thank you for pointing me to it.

I'll talk to the builder to see how he feels about me pulling some of my own wires.
The house comes with a fair amount of pre-wire and there could be concern about warranty issues.

Well, I hope you are able to do it. then you'll just be spending on wire.
