This is my first post on cocoontech. I am usually lurking around on AVS but been wanting to do a little more research on home automation. I don't have my dream home yet but have plans in the next few years to build. I plan to do all the low voltage wiring myself so I am going to take advantage of this great forum to make sure I am prepared for anything. I would like to say thanks ahead of time to all the fellow members that will be sharing some of their wisdom with me.

Thanks for the greeting. I plan to us this site and all its knowledge as much as I can. I want to do a full home automation with security and whole home audio. I plan on using the Elk M1G just because I like the way you can customize it and have been thinking of going with a set up like jwilson56 for the audio. This will defiantly be a slow process so that one I don't scare the wife and two the Arbor Day Foundation hasn’t made a money tree yet. Thought is over wire when we build and spread out the equipment purchases over time. I am only 30 so I feel I still have a lot of time. Been looking into CQC and know that will be a learning curve but love the idea of the control and the interfacing it can do. Again thanks ahead of time.

There's a sale on for CQC up until the 20th, so you could save some bucks in that directory.
