Help with HLC switches

I have 70+ HLC switches in the house. Recently, I have lost a few (5 by now). They do not respond to any commands from the OPII. Some of them are also setup to send commands out to other HLC switches and that they are still doing. I have tried to reconfigure through the omni console but the system does not detect them. Using Upstart, they initially show up as missing but come back with full functionalty after putting the devices in setup mode and re-discovering. However, the OPII still shows them as MIA.
I have also tried restoring the HLC's to factory default with no luck.
Any suggestions?

Have you reset the HLC PIM by pressing the button 5 times (led change), ten times (led change) and then 2 times?

It sounds like a signal issue - either signal loss or noise. When you used UPStart:

1. Did you notice any noise indications?
2. If no, did you possibly run and signal strength tests among the suspect switches and compare them to other working switches?
3. Are the failing switches on the same or opposite phase from the PIM?
5. Do you have a phase coupler installed?
6. Have you added any electrical appliances to the home - essentially, has anything changed (new lights or light types)?
7. Do you know whether the switches are Gen1 or Gen2 (you can use UPStart to determine firmware versions)?

Guys,
The gremlins are gone!!!
Thank you all for all the help.
ASIhome, you were 100% right. I resetted the PIM and just like magic, all the lost HLC's came back.
I never suspected a PIM problem since all the other switches (60+) were working 4.0.
Also I knew that my noise levels are actually very good in the house.
Again, thank you guys.

The PIM can operate in two modes: pulse mode and message mode. UPStart uses pulse mode, and the OmniPro II uses message mode. The PIM defaults to message mode, and the OmniPro II sets the PIM to message mode when it starts. Usually, the problem you had is caused by sharing a PIM between UPStart and the OmniPro II. UPStart places the PIM in pulse mode and is supposed to restore it to message mode when UPStart closes. Sometimes this doesn't happen, or the PIM is disconnected from the PC before UPStart exits. Resetting the PIM as instructed above restores the default message mode.
