Help with M1 Rule

Hello -

I just installed 2 screamers, one inside and one in the garage. I have a M1XOVR and they are on 2 differnet outputs.

I would like to have the screamer in the garage turn on for 1 sec (chirp) to remind my wife that the alarm is on and the entry timer is about to expire. I would say about 20 seconds into the timer should give enough time to react.

I cant seem to figure out how to do this between the counters and custom settings.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Try this:

WHENEVER ENTRY DELAY, ANY AREA STARTS
THEN SET Alarm Warn (Counter 10) TO 1

WHENEVER EVERY 20 SECONDS
AND Alarm Warn (Counter 10) IS EQUAL TO 1
THEN TURN Output 016 (Out 16) ON FOR 1 SEC
THEN SET Alarm Warn (Counter 10) TO 0

Tried this one first as it was shorter. Works perfect.

Yes, I know the screamer seems extreme, but it is just for a second and in the garage not facing her.
The main thing was that she would forget that the alarm was on entry delay and take her time getting out of the car. If it gets down to a critical time, then a little warning cant hurt ) The keypad is inside the entry door, so you cant hear it chiming on the delay.

Next question..... is there a way to make the duration less then one second? I think I know this answer already but figured I would check. 1 second does feel like an eternity when that thing goes off

The shortest time the M1 can do is 1 second. If you want shorter, then you'll need to install a hardwired timer set for 0.2 seconds or so. With just a quick look, the most popular hardwired timers also have a minimum setting of 1 second. I'm sure there is something out there that will work without having to build a custom timer. To make this work you'll have to use two outputs, wired in parallel to the siren. The first would be for the chirp and the second for the sustained alarm.

Acutally the kids named her "Lola" because the first words she uttered were "lower entery door" and they thought she said "Lola"..

That is not a bad idea. Lets see if she gets tired of the screamer and that would be next.

I agree with Del - the screamer is likely to make her drop the groceries!

I like to use another warning device - a much less obnoxious piezo buzzer that you can leave on after 20 seconds without causing hearing damage! Or the other suggestion to add a speaker in there - the SP12's are great.

I'd say speaker or possibly work in lighting to blink the lights inside the garage, or even both.
