Hidden window magnetic sensor

I am using Kolbe brand casement style windows in a new house. Along the bottom of the window there is a full width channel that holds the crank mechanism to open and close the window. However, the crank mechanism only occupies about half of the width and it appears that the remaining space would provide amply space to hold the magnetic sensor for the security system. I have a security installer who will actually install the wires and sensors and he said it should be no problem. If it works as expected, the sensor will be completely hidden when the window is closed (major WAF points).

Has anyone here installed sensors in a similar fashion? Any problems?
