HikVision Camera's IR Light Setting & Mobile Viewing

I just purchased a HikVision DS-2CD2142FWD-I dome camera (with on-board recording via MicroSD card).
 
I'm more used to Axis cameras and this is my first HikVision.
 
I'm wanting the on-board IR lights to turn on at night, and the only place I see any type of IR entry is under "Maintenance/System Service", which to me seems that this is only to be used for troubleshooting.
 

 
Can someone more experienced with this brand tell me if this is the only way to get the IR lights on and I'm not missing something here (I poured through the manual already)?
 
Also, I'm viewing the live stream with IPCamViewerPro on my iPhone and Androids, but is there a mobile app that lets me see the captures (like BlueIris's option has)?  I really don't want to have to fire that up as I already have on-board recording with the camera itself.

I've never manually adjusted any IR settings on any of the Hik's I've installed. That has always been a default function...
 
With regard to the other... I only use my Hiks with BlueIris.

That's what is weird.  I did nothing to turn it 'off', but they don't come on when switched to black and white for the night.  I only messed with the backlighting function.
 
Mobile apps seem to be pretty worthless.

I've never paid REALLY CLOSE attention to mine... your statement makes me wonder if there are separate thresholds for changing to B&W and when the IR LEDs are turned on.

Area might be too bright for IR's but the scene is switching to B&W?

I can adjust the brightness levels, but not the threshold.  I'm just going to leave it as that seems to be the only way they stay on.  Thanks for the help.
 
Now, the only thing I can't figure out is how to delete the videos (selectively) from the microSD card.

What did you do to get them to come on? Are they coming on at night as expected?
 
Regarding the on-board storage.. you've got me there. I haven't used the feature yet...

Here looked up the manual for your camera and what I attached looks a bit different than your description.  It could be that your camera has older firmware than what the manual mentions? 
 



 
Here with my Grandstream cams have had one IP HD camera get stuck in the winter when cold such that the camera would turn to black and white but not turn on the IR LEDs at night.  I could manually turn them on changing the sensitivity.  I would reboot the camera then all would be well.  Typically though have left the defaults for my cams.
 
There is too a Western region and Chinese region versions of the cameras.  The Chinese version has a CH in the serial number.

Thanks Pete.  I have the English version (paid a bit more for it).  I have the smart IR and can place it in auto or manual, but you still need the maintenance, Turn IR Lights On checked.
 
I believe I'm good though as things are running well with that checked (I have to look to see if the IR lights are on during the day though).
 
The menu system is really different for this camera than what I'm used to.
 
Now, I'm trying to get HikVision's mobile app working, iVMS-4500 so I can see the captured videos via my i-Phone.

Just an FYI in case anyone else out there is trying to use the iVMS-4500 app with their phones:
 
You MUST use port 8000 for the first camera, then 8001 for the second, 8002 for the third, etc...
 
This was driving me crazy until I realized this.
 
I'm using the HikVision (English Version) IP Camera DS-2CD2142FWD-I which features on-board recording via a microSD card. It was $155 on Amazon and so far I like it, though I've only had it up for a week.  
 
Being able to see the video captures remotely via my phone was the missing piece.
 
I like being able to set capture settings separately for day and night time modes.  It also has some pretty impressive rules (cross a line, etc...) for capturing as well, though I have yet to play around with this feature.
 
I do the real time (phone) viewing with IPCamViewerPro, just because I'm used to that and its compatible with my other cameras.
 
The camera also has useful email notifications (disk full, send a captured image, etc...) as well as FTP capabilities.
 
It is POE and has a pretty small footprint.  Impressed so far with my first HikVision camera.

Wow, you paid top dollar for that camera for sure. I'm seeing the Hik's I typically order available for $79-$80 right now. The ones I get have an English interface as well, but are not considered to be "English" cameras... in that you can't simply load the latest "English" firmware to them. I tried that once and oddly, loading the English firmware resulted in all text to be displayed in Chinese (I suspect).

Yes, there was a premium for the English version so I can update the firmware... And get this, I can't even find the updated firmware on HikVisions site (sent them a request for help with this).
 
The ones you said were around the $80 price...did this also include the on-board recording option?
