Can anyone recommend a system that can be self installed and will control/include: alarm, audio, lights? if this is in the wrong spot please move it, thanks!

If that 'self' is someone else, like a Pro Installer, then yeah, all of them. Just pick up the phone. Kind of an expensive way to install, though.

Edit - if you're a die-hard DIY, HAI and Elk should be considerations. A lot to learn, but it's a fun hobby. If you already have an alarm, then CQC, MainLobby, HomeSeer, J9, and Premise (it's free) should be researched.

Is this new work or retrofit?

Its going to be new work (the house is torn apart), my boss is asking me to find a system that will work for one of his guys to install. From what I am seeing its not going to be easy to do.

I got a bit more information from my boss. What he wants to do is just run all the wires needed, install the speakers but have someone install the main control unit and program everything. Are there setups like this? or will everything have to be put together piece by piece, Thanks for the help

Consult the person who will eventually install the main controller, and ask him to specificy cables. He'll probably do it for a fee, but everything will be correct that way. No screw-ups. Well, fewer screw-ups.
