honeywell

So i have a honeywell system and at all the motions i need to pull the polling loop to each device and then I have to poll a seperate 22/2 wire. The polling loop is a twisted 18/2. Now on the back of the motion detectors I need to install there are two sets of contacts. on with a picture of a alarm bell and the other one is a picture of a cable being cut. Is the set of contacts that has a picture being cut is that the polling loop. Does the polling loop supervise the circuits and makes sure no one is tampering with your system. Sorry but the instructions that came with this system are not very thorough.

The Honeywell V-PLEX polling loop is on the commercial grade Vista panels. It is used so you can make a "loop" wire around the building and then you can parallel connect your devices anywhere along that loop without having to make a home run to the panel for each device. You need to either install a specific Honeywell V-PLEX device such as a V-PLEX motion, or a V-PLEX contact, or a V-PLEX glass break. If you have a non-V-PLEX device you can get a V-PLEX module that can adapt it to the system. The reason you need to have a specific V-PLEX device or module is that each one has a specific, unique serial number which is read by the polling loop. This serial number is programmed into a zone on the panel. It is a very solid, reliable system that I have used many times for my commercial clients. For convenience I usually use 18/4 cable or 18/6 if I am running several keypads around the building.

I would need to know specific model #'s of the panel and devices to give you any more specific advice, but I am glad to help if you have more questions.

Its going into a school. k-9. Im running 18-2 untwisted and 18-2 twisted in a loop to 4 4208U modules located in the field. The homerun is going to the vista panel and ad25624 module. from the 4208u modules there is a 22/2 going to the motion detectors. Then coming from the main panel there is 6 homeruns of 18-2 twisted for the polling loop and these six run to groups of motion detectors. so at each device I have a 18-2 twisted coming from the polling loop as well as a 22-2 coming from the 4208u module. Which wire to i hook up to which contact in the motion detector.

they are dual tech PIR motion detector. Im using four wires. 22-2 for the signal going to 4208 expander module and the 18-2 going to a power supply.
