How to search on 3 letter words?

I can't be the first to ask this question. How does one search on 3 letter words? HAI, Elk, X10, UPB, CQC. I get nothing. Only longer words seem to retrive anything.

Thanks.

Most board software won't let you search for 3 letter words.
It's particularly frustrating here as you point out.

You have to do something like "HAI controller", "Omni", "UPB light", etc.

Use Google with this search (obviously you'll want to substitute your own 3 letter acronym): HAI "http://www.cocoontech.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=" site:www.cocoontech.com

I'm a small and sometimes broken search engine on the CQC topic, so feel free to ask if you have any questions on that front. In retrospect it's like naming a band Free Beer or something. I should have named my company Porn Automation or something like that, then everyone would find it all the time.

It really is a common and annoying limitation. I actually have a fix for this, which was enabled for a while, but had to disable it due to some performance issues. I just upgraded the forum software last weekend, and will try this workaround again later this weekend. The forum software also supports tagging now, so if people would use this feature, I could turn that on as well.

3 letter search is enabled again (switched to a different internal search engine, so it should be more effective with other searches as well). Let me know if there are any other search issues.

Dan, did you notice that this thread shows zero views in the forum view? Just pointing it out in case it's a glitch you want to look into. It also didn't change when I posted this response, or move to the top of the list.

Oh, I get it. It got moved. That's not as obvious here on this forum as it on others, so I didn't notice it.

I don't like the icon for 'moved' either on this new layout, something I will have to change.

Looks like it has stopped working again. Oh, wait, it looks like search isn't working at all, so of course it wouldn't find any three letter words either.

Back in business. I needed to rebuild the sphinx configuration file since I just upgraded major components. Thanks for letting me know!
