My Viewport remote control has crapped out after 9 years. So I want to replace it with something new.
Here's the requirements:
1 - must be RF - everything is in cabinets in the back of the room.
2 - must have at least 2 (3 is better) RS-232 ports
3 - need a way to control lights and screen - a simple way to do this is with two relay's triggering zones in my Elk M1 and letting the M1 do the dirty work. An IR to ELK interface would be an option if such a thing exists or perhaps IR to relay?
4 - need 5 IR's for current equipment.
5 - remote control itself can be touch panel or handheld, but needs to be workable in the dark - ie backlight.
6 - simpler is better with respect to other items - like not needing a PC to handle stuff.
I've looked at the univeral remote TX-1000/MX-3000 with a MSC-400 contoller, cost is about $1000 with TX-1000.
Thanks.
