Nuts.

These were a nice alternative to the more expensive Switchlincs.

Thanks for the update, I am wondering why they have been discontinued, didn't they resolve most of the problems?

This is one of the dangers of having only one mfg for a product. With other protocals there are more than one mfg for switches etc.

I am not implying that I think SH is packing it in. I am "guessing" that they are trying to cut their losses and limit the product line.

Someone just posted on the smarthome forums that they just wont have any for a few months so they are "discontinued" temporarily as in no backorders. But they will be back supposedly.

Not to be too cynical, but this looks like SH is working margin management in a big way.

Another example, this "comparison chart" for the LampLinc Essential 2000SC refers to a LampLinc 2000SHL -- $13.99 vs. $15.99. Trouble is, you can't get a 2000SHL, clicking that link takes you to the 2000STW ($22.99, but  gee whiz, that one's discontinued). You *can* however get a similar item, the ICON (ahem) 2856D2B ($26.99). And searching for "2000SHL", the original item, gets you to the Insteon 2456D3 ($34.99).

Do you see a pattern here?

Right but the more expensive 2 are insteon-enabled whereas the cheaper ones are x10 only. Which brings me to my biggest sore point. The difference between x10 and insteon exists only in the software layer. So why is insteon so much more expensive? Ok fine development costs and somewhat better materials but double the cost?
