Intercom Systems

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but in a apartment in a apartment building with an intercom system, is it possible to change the intercom station in a single apartment? Currently, there is an old station I want to change. The current station has talk, listen, door. If so, will any intercom station work?

Figure out the make and model, and then look at the instructions. You may have to call that company's tech support to determine.

Are they wired intercom? Does it connect to phone line? Do you need remotely open the door also through the intercom?

I'm also interested in this --

I have a Condo with intercom; so I cannot modify components outside my unit. I'd like to figure out if its possible for a visitor at the downstairs buzzer box to press the button for my unit, and hear something like 'one moment please - notifying the resident' -- and then in my unit I have some new gadget hooked up to replace my current call box (with its listen/talk/buzz buttons). Said gadget would ring in my unit, and I could respond from its panel; but at the same time it would also VOIP call me so I could speak to the person and press a Key to buzz them in, if I'm not home.

Anyone know of an advanced system that can hookup to the classic wiring like this?
