IP Alarm monitoring

"WOW!

Heh heh... Very funny.

The monitoring will wait after a month of setting up a security system myself. :D

I'm looking at the Cellular Phone Line monitoring. $259.95 for a setup fee and $5.95 a month? That's $71.40 + 259.95 = $331.35. For uControl, I remember seeing a cost of a device that sells for $129.95 + $24.95 a month for a 3-year contract. $429.35. I could break down the cost of $24.95/month of uControl: $11.98 for cellular service, and $12.97 for monitoring cost. That'll be $207.77.

Isn't $5.95 a month too good to be true with $259.95 for a cellular device?

What's the difference between SaveOnMyAlarms.com and uControl?

Looks like a very interesting service. I just wish they came up with a better website design. This looks so bad that it makes me wonder if it is even real.

Looks like they have the same website designer as x10.com :)

And what deterrent value do you get from mailbox and window signs -- "Premises protected by $ave On My Alarm" ? :D

(Wayne -- just having fun here. Actually, thanks for the lead. ...Dave)

I am curious if their IP monitoring works with the Elk XEP, which might lower your set-up fee. I suspect if they are selling a modified VOIP box like the ABN for NextAlarm?

I noticed they also have email only notification for $1/month for those that didn't get a NextAlarm account when they offered it for free. This would let you get detailed zone info, which is a weak point of the XEP emails. Oops, that looks like something fishy as it costs $2.95/month for 5 years or $9.95/month-to-month to renew, so it isn't $1/month for long. And their $5.95 monitoring requires a 5 year plan. :D
