ISY99I or ISY994I

I was about to order the ISY99IPRO IR when I saw the 994 series. The only thing that interests me about the 994I is the slot for future support and ADC support. I would love to have a device that can support Insteon AND Zwave so I can use their beautiful locks. The morning star ones just don't do it for me.

So is the ISY994I replacing the ISY99I? Why does not one seem to carry the ISY994i? What are the main advantage of the ISY994I?

I did read the product descriptions but it wasn't very illuminating to a newb like me.

If I had it to do over again I would do the most compatible ISY device (994) as I like to have options for future use. I am 100% happy with th 99IR Pro but you can never have too many abilities to expand. :)

I haven't seen any end of life comments in the UDI forums but you never know. If they can use the 994 and sell it with upgradeable options, and have a comparable price to the 99 then it would make sense to produce the one unit, to me at least.

Yeah, it looks like a great product but I don't think it's out yet, but I know they have referenced it in their release notes, so it maybe it's in beta or limited supply. You should probably post on their forums and ask, they have a quick turnaround time on their forums. BTW it looks like it is Insteon+ZigBee not Insteon+ZWave. But it should still work with ZigBee door locks. They also have one that is a WifiRouter too. But I would be reluctant to let go of DDWRT.

It's in stock from a major big box retailer online at a great price. Am I allowed to mention company names if they are not sponsors?

I ended up ordering the old one for the same price from Aartech because Robert worked so hard to answer my 1001 inane questions that he deserved every penny of my Insteon order.

Wow, it must have just been released to Best Buy. That is a great price. I spent the same amount (maybe more) a couple years ago on the IR pro model. The zigbee interface would be nice. At least I now know where to go when/if I want to add that function.

And I should add for the OP.

You need to go to Universal Devices Forum. While there are a lot of people here that know about the ISY and Insteon (many of whome frequent both this site and that site), UD's forum is where to really get great answers about this stuff.

+1 on getting the information from UDI's forum. Their customer service and pre sales support was excellent for me.
