Hi,

I am getting ready to install a number of temp/humidity sensors. To date, I've been using the hobby boards sensors. While they are great, I was curious if someone might have some suggestions for getting the cost down to something in the $25 range.

I've looked into the RFXCOM wireless+Oregon scientific modules and that seems promising after the initial investment.

Thanks,
W

You could purchase the 1wire sensors from Maxim and the RS232 adapter.

Then you'll need software to intepret and display / use the thermo data.

Already have the collection/recording/display/etc. Using homeseer, xap, mcstemp + mainlobby/web browser for user interface.

Just looking for something about 1/2 the $55+ for the hooby boards sensors.

all wiring is cat5 and already terminated to rj45s in all rooms.

While I used to be able to do light electronics work, I'm not sure what's involved in buying the raw sensors and get something togehter that will work.
