I tested the self-tapping screws in my Channel Vision enclosure.
Worked fine.
However, it did produce a single tiny shaving, eliminating the presumed benefit of self-tapping screws.
I think I'll use the backplates - first horizontal CV plate on order from AO.
Now to determine what length screw for attaching stuff to the backplate...no depth plate dimensions online. I'll post it when it arrives.
