Long Distance Wireless Camera Solution?

Some jerk thinks it's hilarious to routinely turf my property and I'm determined to catch him. I have a good deal of road frontage on my farm that is about 1000' from my house. At least 3 times a month the area along the road gets torn up badly by someone doing a little late night offroading. Is there a camera solution available that would help me catch this guy? I can't get any wires to this location as they would have to cross another road. Any suggestions?

I have never used a wildlife camera before but it seems to me that it will do what you want. Something like this?

You can probably get a decent discription of the vehicle but identification is unlikly unless they have a very unique vehicle.

Me personally I would not use CCTV and thats what I sell for a living. lol I would do something to disable the vehicle if you can determine it's path. If you have like 500' of highway frontage there may be nothing you can feasably do. But if by using railroad ties or whatnot you can limit the means to get in/out you may have a variety options. Also the amount of labor you are willing to put into it is a major factor.

Sure but spike strips have a couple of problems. If it's big enough to take out on of my Jeeps tires it's probably big enough to kill you if you fell on it and it is unlikely to stop the vehicle very quickly.


I was thinking more like scrap 3" schedule 8 fence with some UHMW poly rope (or wire rope) spanning between them. The farther from the house the farther in they go and the more cement holding them in.

Heck if you have an auger you can weld ancors on the end and put them in pretty deep without crazy labor. The idea is to get the UHMW rope to wrap around a tire, the posts closest to the house you want to instantly pop out to provide the slack to get it really wrapped up. Then when you get to the corner post the vehicle is stopped and traveling in an arc away from the house. Really you could use much thinner walled stuff for all but the corner post but you want the rope to not too easily slide through them I would go for the as weak and cosmetic as possible look to try and tempt them to run it down.

I know of people that have used the wildlife cameras with good results.
