Looking for a new smartphone

swype is pretty awesome. i've got it running on my ancient htc touch pro. but you can't beat a real keyboard especially when you vnc/rdp from your phone...

I also use Tasker (I need to refine a few things tho... but I use wifi and GPS most of the time so that's part of my battery problem...) but havent gotten useto swype, so I am still on the default skin'd keyboard

Tasker rocks - get it. A bit complicated and I'm still learning, but very very cool.

Swype also rocks. i never use the physical keyboard anymore. But if the device doesn't come with it you'll probably have to hack it on somehow as the Swype beta is closed.

Never got into Swype because I can't figure out how to go from a letter on the right side to a letter in the middle and knowing where to stop! I use my right thumb so it always blocks the keyboard. How do you know what letter you are stopping on??

That's the beauty of swype. Just guesstimate, you will be surprised at how well it does. It also seems to "learn" your swyping behavior and gets better over time.

The important thing to think of when using swype is that it actually tracks the linear swype that you make, not just the actual letters (if it even uses those at all). I actually cannot function with the old style keyboard anymore I have become so dependent on Swype. I can't stand it when they update and I have to wait for the new apk to be sent from the beta program!
