M1 ToGo connection problem

I'm at my wit's end over this. The M1 ToGo program connects and works just fine when I'm at home on my LAN, but I always get an error "Can not establish a connection" when trying to connect when away from home. The manual for ToGo on pg 6 shows a check box to require a username and password. My version of ToGo doesn't show that option when I go to the New Profile page. It just has the two other options on the right side, yet when I want to connect, I'm asked for a username and password on the Login page. I have no idea what to enter here, I've tried everything I can think of, but nothing will allow a connection. I've thought about uninstalling ToGo and re-installing a fresh copy, but I can't even remove it. It doesn't show up in the Windows uninstaller.

Any suggestions?

The username/password come from the XEP setup in ElkRP. That said, most likely your problem is that you don't have the right port forwarding set up in your router. There is some mildly advanced networking required to set that up. Have you forwarded any ports in your router to the secure port on your M1? Have you set up either a static IP or Dynamic DNS?

I had the same problem until someone on this forum pointed out that the user you are using to log in with has to have "access" UNCHECKED on the user page. Might want to verify that.

The username and password fields in ElkRP for the XEP are blank (on the password page), I have never set up any passwords. When trying to login with M1 ToGo, I also have left those fields blank, but still no connection. I have forwarded port 2601 in my router to the address of the M1 on my system and am using a free static ip from no-ip.com.

The "Access" box is checked on the user page, but since I'm not home at present, I can;t change that in the system.

Why does my install of ToGo not show the check box to require a username and password as shown in the manual, pg 6? And is there a way to uninstall it so as to install a fresh copy?

I think the program is a very basic setup. You can probably just delete the folder. It's says that it can be installed on a flash drive. This is what makes me think you can just delete it and reinstall. Do so at your own risk, though.

Try setting up a user and password, too. You may have to for it to work, who knows.

I just downloaded the program and tried it out. Set up port forwarding in my router, set up a user and password in the XEP and used my DDNS information for the URL for the panel. It worked.

Edit:

I just copied the folder from my NAS shared drive to my thumb drive, it works on the thumb drive after deleting the folder on the NAS.

Pretty cool program. Clean, simple, AND it actually works! Nice addition Elk Products!

Also, the user code I am using has "Access" unchecked here too.

Everyone that responded: Thanks for the input.

. I'll have to wait until I get back home to make the password and access changes on the XEP. That's nothing I can do from here.
