M1 with AC Failure message

Hi all

Yes it's all very frustrating . Don't know if this may be of any help
the Manual front page lower right hand corner - Current with Firmware 4.4.12 so I assume this
the firmware i'm running. And this is the PS I purchased through Ness

I think you’re correct. I assumed Cbusales sent me an AC power supply, as the one listed on the website is completely different
looking to the PS I received. Which leads me to believe it’s a DC power supply and the current US firmware
doesn’t support DC power.Spanky mention there will be support in the next software update, but when?

It still works apart from the error message.
Do I risk continuing to use the DC PS I have?. Or do I wait for the Software update?

I know should have purchased from Ness :nutz:

Hi James,

You definetly have a DC supply which is why you are seeing the AC failure. Well done Mick (aka zenlbok) for forcing the AC DC check.

You will be OK to use the M1 with the supply, you won't damage it only get the annoying error message. Ignore it until the ELK firmware comes out. You will not draw Spanky into stating when the firmware is going to be released...better men have crashed and burned in the attempt! :nutz:

Get on with getting your head around RP and all the periphals and how you are going to impliment your system.

That's really comforting knowing I can continue using the M1 with the DC voltage without risking damage.

Yes you are correct Mick (aka zenlbok) should take the credit for directing me towards checking my power supply. So thanks Mick.

I feel I eliminated the obvious possible causes AC Voltage reads 16.15V, battery fine.

hmmm, I'm a little confused as he stated he measured 16 volts AC when I asked back in post #4.

Yes that comment had us all in a spin. The power supply that I suggested James purchase website picture and discription was a AC supply but because of some very recent regulation change here in Australia, Ness and the supplier obviuosly swapped out the AC to DC without changing the website.

That request Spanky refers to in the post Sandpipier points to for running the M1 off a DC supply without getting AC failure error would most likely have come from Ness here in Australia.

James is a newbie and have we not all been there at some point in time.....lucky for James he has landed on mothership Cocoontech!
