My Elk M1G setup is pretty big (I think). I have 7 XINs and will get 2 more soon. I have quite a few devices that need power (glass breaks, occupancy sensors, and more) so wiring this up was a chore. In fact, I had to contact AO who hooked me up with Brad at Elk to decide the best way to configure my system.
As a result of several emails, we decided to run 2 485 runs off the M1G main board. The first run uses the power off the bus. The 2nd run gets powered from a P212S power supply.
OK, so now I am connecting my thermostats. I have 5 RCS TR60 thermostats...these are RS485 connected devices that attach to the Elk M1Gs serial interface (XSP).
Finally, we are getting to my question... I know that the M1G install manual is VERY adament about no more than 2 RS485 bus runs. So does the RS485 off the serial board count? Since it is run from a seperate board (the XSP) I am hoping that I am still OK. If not then I will have to reconfigure my runs off the M1G board to be only one run. I can reconfigure the power requirements if I have to.
