I just want to ask a few questions to clarify things. By using the ELK-M1TWA I can have up to three zones of audio (for voice and alarm) and mute any of them as I want using rules and the 7,8,9 and 10 output correct? When those channels are muted, does it enable the microphone automatically? Are there separate outputs to control the microphones?
Also, is the three channels created with the ELK-M1TWA in addition to the normal voice/alarm output from the ELK? In other words, do you basically end up with 4 potential zones, but with the main board's zone not mutable, etc?
Basically I want a way to install speakers in my kids room, but only have them go off during a fire alarm. They don't need to be awoken during every voice annoucement, etc. So I would rather not have the microphones enabled all the time in those zones. I would also like to have a zone set up for a 2nd partition on the alarm system so those speakers would get those partitions voice annoucements.
My ultimate goal is to set the house up like this: I would use 1 zone for the normal house (using the normal ELK speaker connection), 1 zone for the master bedroom, and 1 zone for all other bedrooms, and 1 zone for partition #2 (my crawspace and attic space). I would generally leave the "normal house" zone on which is why it can be fed by the ELK panel. I would leave the "all other bedrooms" zone turned off except for a fire alarm. I would program the master bedroom to be on for alarms all the time, and on for voice annoucements during the day, and finally the last zone would be the 2nd partition which would only be active for the voice commands for that partition and not the entire house (ie give a warning that the alarm is about to go off because someone opened the crawlspace door without turning the 2nd partition off).
Hopefully my plan is attainable, but I just wanted to get clarification as to how the ELK-M1TWA works. The installation instructions don't provide the type of information I am looking for.
Thanks,
