Motion detectors in bathrooms and garages

I search the forum over and could not find a post like this.  Here is my question:

Any advice on motion sensors for bathrooms and garages, do's/don't's?  I will be using bosch sensors.  Obviously my concern is humidity and heat.  All sensors will be used for both occupancy and security.

If there are other questions like this, please help me out and link them.  Thanks!

I had the Bosch sensors in my garage for 5+ years with no problems.  I also had 2 of them outside for 5+ years with no problems, one of them was not sheltered at all and got the full brunt of whatever weather we were having.  The outside ones, I took the lens out and sealed the edges with silicone, and then put some clear weatherproof tape around the seam where it snaps together after it was mounted.

I don't think you'll have problems.

You'll want different sensors for automation (occupancy) than security (motion).

Occupancy sensors are designed to be very sensitive so they automation works reliably, security sensors are designed to eliminate false alarms.

Trying to use security sensors for automation produces less than acceptable results, at least to my WAF.

Besides, on the occupancy, I am mostly interested in the lights turning off with no motion rather than turning on with motion

I used the Bosch sensors for both security and occupancy.  It worked fine.  It's my understanding that using *wired* motion sensors is fine for occupancy.  But wireless motion sensors are nearly useless for that because they will only trip once every 5 minutes to conserve battery.
