This Q&A is still in progress and I will post updates later today, but this will give some idea of what MCE 2005 is all about, especially if you missed the launch event (or video feed):

edit: Q&A has been completed, I posted the entire log, you can use Ctrl-F if you are looking for a certain answer.

A: Yes it should work - please see the hardware compatibility list on http://oem.microsoft.com/mceready for a list of supported tuner cards and drivers.

Q: Will OEMs be able to add to the supported video streaming formats? For example, provide support for VidX AVI encoded files under "My Videos"?
A: Yes if they choose to do so in their images.

Q: I'm very confused... You have told people that MCE2005 will be in the MAPS pack for October and other responses have been that it won't be in the October MAPS?? Can you please clarify to OEM'ers the release schedule for MAPS, as there is outdated info on the MAPS site BTW...Thanks for the great webcast
A: For availabiity please refer to the MAP site as it will be updated with this information.

A: This is available with the 3 packs of Media Center 2005. There are seperate licenses required for this and they are explained in the included documentation.

A: A third party conversion program will be needed. Movie Maker 2 does not have support to open this.

Q: I AM confussed - again - Can I make a copy of the recorded TV to DVD for storage and viewing later? Conflicting answers
A: You can copy the recorded dvr-ms file to a DVD for storage and playback later to a MCE machine or on a PC that has a version of WMP that supports playback of dvr-ms files. The only time you could not be able to "archive" a dvr-ms file to a DVD would be if the recording was copy protected from being copied (copy never). Some recorded programs also are copy protected to only be played on the MCE machine that it was recorded on. If you install the Digital Media Feature Pack for MCE 2005 you will then have the ability to take a recorded TV program and burn it to a DVD in a format that most consumer stand alone DVD players will recognize for playback.

A: To watch movies remotely you need to use one of the extenders
