MX-Editor (with live update) for MX-900

I purchased a couple MX-900's over the past couple years from smarthomepro and have been using the MX-Editor edition without live update. I understand there was a licensing change and now the live update edition is only available from the dealer (which is fine with me). I've tried and been denied access to it though smarthomepro and haven't heard anything back from URC yet either. I did check with URC originally that they were indeed an "authorized dealer" so not sure why this was amde so complicated.

Is there a live update edition or is this old information?

It is better than the 'lite' edition you download when you register the remote?

Any suggestions for retreiving it (since smarthomepro is no help)?

I'm really wanting access to the latest IR database since there are a couple of devices (canadian models of a panasonic bluray player and shaw motorola PVR's) that I'd like to check and see if their available (easier than learning code and/or guessing on 'similar' models).

Any suggetions or feedback?

Thanks

1. Pick up the phone, call smarthomepro. Maybe they'll come through.

2. Find a local installer, ask to cut a deal. Call several.

3. Buy a 3rd remote from an online dealer who will provide the software (Mike @ surfremote is immeasurably helpful when it comes to troubleshooting).

4. Cut a deal with an online retailer (perhaps Mike @ surfremote).

5. Did I mention Mike @ surfremote may help?

They don't take phone orders.

Mike is very active on multiple forums; very knowledgeable, and very helpful.

Edit - Surfremote doesn't sell to Canada, I'm afraid (you said you had a Canadian model of something), but he may still have some useful info.

A quicker cheaper and more efficient way to accomplish what you're after is to simply is the hex editor. As a URC dealer, I have no experience with a "lite" version of the editor so I'm unsure if you have it available but the hex editor is an invaluable tool. If you don't have the hex editor in your version (and you're patient) I can always help out a fellow cocoon'er. In other words, if need be, send me your file and I'll update it with the new codes and email it back. Easy peasy...
