Need recommendation on HA hardware / controller.

I have been a long time lurker and now posting looking for advice.
I am in the process of building a new home. Have not signed a contract yet. I want to add automation to the new house and am not sure what controller are out there and recommended.

I want to control lights, thermostat, possibly blinds, door locks, garage door opened or closed. May see about adding cameras and distributed audio wiring while the house is in framing.

Welcome to the Cocoontech forum bkeal.
 
Pure hardware wise here I use a Leviton HAI OmniProII (X2).  I do all that you mention except for blinds at this time.
 
Many forum users here also utilize the Elk M1 Gold. 
 
Both are combination security and automation panels. 
 
Both were first with this methodology of combining security and automation.
 
That said I utilize automation software called Homeseer. 
 
Here on the Cocoontech forum you have many users today using a variety of software to automate.
