New HAI/M1 Thermostat Problem

Hi All,

I seem to be stuck again. I decided to install a few thermostats connected to my Elk. I have just installed the first one along with a new M1XSP. I have an existing M1XSP that was addressed to 1. After reading the instructions(Yes I did read them), I realized my new M1XSP had to be address 1(Hai Tstats 1-4 must be on XSP addr. 1) I readressed the existing to addr. 2 and installed the new XSP as addr. 1. I tested the lighting connected to the original XSP, all works fine. With the Tstat installed and setup as per instructions I try to access it through RM and get the Tstat screen with 00 in the middle of the screen(looks like no comm). When I try to access the Tstat from a keypad, I get the following T01:Not Enabled. I can't seem to fine in RP where to enable any or one specific Tstat. Anybody know where to enable it???

Same problem here. Two serial expanders. The first moved to address 2 for lighting, and all works fine. The new unit programmed to address 1 for the Tstat and set up per the instructions included with the M1XSP. I believe all is configured properly as the HAI Tstat shows the proper time (and I did not program that locally into the Tstat). But, the keypads show T01: Not Enabled. Can't reproduce the ElkRP '00' screen you mention, though - can you be more specific?

Can anyone explain how the enable the HAI Omnistat with an Elk-M1 Gold? Thanks!

I just installed mine a couple of days ago... I didn't have to enable it any place specifically, but it's important to make sure that the thermostat has everything programmed correctly - the settings are in the directions for the XSP, but you'll probably also need the instructions for the thermostat to match them up...

Also, make sure you match up the exact settings on the XSP for the thermostat. I screwed mine up the first time - it looked good 'till I tried to change my first setting, then I got the 00's on the screen, and couldn't get back until I power cycled the system.

I couldn't find any good indicators showing status of the XSP or anything confirming it was working, unfortunately... it was kinda one of those "it either works or it doesn't" kind of things...

Also make sure your wires are all correct and secure, of course...

Hi,
A quick call to Elk solved my problem. Even after looking over everything 10X I could not figure it out. Yes the setting in the Stat are very important...I had the baud rate set wrong. I also learned that after setup, pressing the fan button on and off helps start the comms.

A follow up in case it might help anyone in the future.

Triple checked stat configuration - all good. Power down the Elk M1 and back into the attic to check the M1XSP jumpers and dip switches. All good. Power the M1 on. The thermostat and the M1 communicate properly now. It appears then that my issue was one of powering the devices on initially in the proper order, or something similar. FYI.
