New LCD TV Search

Regarding "120Hz Technology" - this technology doubles the frame rate from 60 to 120 frames per second without repeating the same image to make more frames. Instead, the TV intelligently calculates the 'middle' image between frame A and frame B and inserts it in between, making a fluid transition from one frame to the next.

Guess I am looking for 10ms or less refresh rates. (which most of them have now).

Just make sure it does "true 120hz." This really only matters with film material. Film is shot at 24hz and needs to be converted to be viewed on regular TVs. The norm to this point is to do a 3/2 conversion to get 60hz. But this causes a slight studdering of the picture. Watch any DVD on a 60hz TV and you will see what I mean.

Unfortunately most of the TVs sold today that are "120hz" are simply taking the 60hz output (with the studdering) and doubling it. This does nothing to prevent the studdering and is simply a marketing tactic to sell TVs. You will see no real benefit on this type of TV.

If 120hz is something you are looking for, you need to look for a TV that does a 5/5 conversion. With this type of conversion, the 24hz film is multiplied by 5 to get 120hz. This even conversion give a smoother picture and should do away with the studdering screens.
