NX458 battery issue

Could some one give me a hand with my alarm. I have a door sensor NX458 that is driving me crazy, I had to replace the door and drill a new hole for the sensor and every since then every 12 hours my alarm reports a low battery in the zone forces me to wake up and then go in and reset the alarm,

My Alarm is a NX8 / 529A
I have a 448 wireless unit connected with all 4 dip switches set to off.
I have 2 keypads I think they are NX-148 and I have the installer codes.

Zone 3 on the keypad shows low battery.

Do you think the battery is dead or I might have reset the sensor when I reinserted it in to the header. (I do have a replacement unit but I would need a hand replacing the old sensor as the manual is a little confusing for a old first timer)

thanks for your ideas

Age of the unit?

I'd say the battery is most likely a goner, since the system is indicating what the transmitter is sending out. Unfortunately, the battery is non-replaceable, so you're looking at either the newer model with the replaceable battery, a MICRA, or another NX458.

Could be that the new door is better at blocking the signal? I have found that these sensors have variable battery life, because you have no idea how long it has sat on the vendors shelf. I have had some fail after only a couple of years and I have gotten two that did not have enough signal to work in my house out of the box. Although the vendor said they tested good when I returned them.

The one with a replaceable battery is a better solution and it requires a bigger hole (although shallower), so you could remove the existing sensor and drill out the hole and replace it with that. I am in the process of switching to wired on mine. For my existing doors I plan to fill the hole with a dowel and redrill for the smaller wired sensors. I think if people added up the cost of all the wireless sensors they could instead be pretty close to just hiring an expert to come in and do the wiring for them. That's what I wish I would've done....

Thanks for the input guys, I also was thinking that maybe it was the door as the door is wrapped in a lot thinker steel but I tried using the device next to the panel and its pretty much dead.

What do you recommend to replace the NX458 ? right now I just want to remove the sensor from the alarm system as every 12 hours it reminds me about the battery level
