Omni Lt Smoke Alarm Setup

I'm still struggling with this OmniLT. PaulD and ano were a big help in solving the phone issue. Now I am having problems with the smoke alarms. I have installed two "System Sensor", two wire sensors. They are wired green to 1st sensor in, green 1st sensor out to 2nd sensor in, white to 1st common to second common, with a 1000 ohm resistor across the leads at the last sensor. That is the way it is shown in the literature. At the omni panel, green is connected to zone 8 and white to Out 2. The jumper is set to smoke. I get the message "Zone 8 Fire/smoke not ready," on the controller. I have gone to control and configured Output 2 as Switched Power Output, Zone 8 is set as "Fire." The manual calls for "Supervised Fire," but that is not a choice. I have armed the system and disarmed it to reset the fire but cannot get rid of the message. The LED's on the sensors do not blink or light up. There is no voltage across Z8 and output 2. I am sure this is some configuration problem, but I sure can't figure it out. I just discovered the HAI forum over on Marketplace. Sorry if I got this in the wrong place. Am posting a different problem over there

I think this may be your issue. It sounds like you have these devices wired in series when they should be in parallel. Your "In" on one sensor should also connect to the "In" on the second sensor. The same holds true for the "Outs" and then the resistor should connect across the last sensors terminals. I may have read your description incorrectly however.

Are you using PC Access? And if so, have you downloaded your file? The best way to make sure all your settings are correct is to actually use the keypad to do so. I would verify your settings first by pressing the "9" key, then enter the installer code when asked. Once "Setup" appears on the screen press the "#" key to advance to "Installer Setup". Next press the "2" key for "Zones". Scroll down to "Zone 8 Type" and verify that it is set to "Fire". Once verified press the "*" key to go back to "Installer Setup". Next press the "1" key for "Control". Scroll down to "Output 2 Type" and verify that it is "Switched Power".

IF all of that is correct. I would disconnect everything from zone 8 and output 2 and then strap a 1kOhm resistor between zone 8 and output 2. If your "Not Ready" state clears, there may be something wrong with your wiring, if it still says not ready, there may be something wrong with the LT.

Worked fine. I followed the directions that came with the sensor. I made them series and they are fine. Thank you very much.
