OmniLT, phone, thermostat problems

I have an HAI OmniLT with an HAI RC-80 thermostat. I cannot make temperature changes with the phone, either by hard line or my cell. The Omni and the thermostat are communicating. I have programmed temp changes and it makes those. The temp and thermostat settings come up if I do a status check in PC Access. So I know the two are communicating. I can call in to the system and it connects. I get the voice menu. "Enter temperature then pound." However, if I try to make a temp change, I get the three beeps and no change. It will do other commands such as "all on," with no problem.

I have checked the thermostat. The address is set to 1. The communications mode is also set to 1. The Display options is set to 5. The setup/Dial/Remote Commands OK is set to Yes.

It seems as though the phone interface is working and there is communication between the panel and the thermostat. What have I missed? Any help appreciated.

Al,

It sounds like you are entering a temperature value that is out of range. Is your OmniLT set to Celsius but you're trying to enter a temperature in Fahrenheit (or the other way around)? What is the current temperature, heat setting, and cool setting reported over the phone and to what value are you trying to set the temperature? Are your setting the heat or cool setting? What version firmware is your OmniLT?

Thank you for responding. Everything is set to Fahrenheit. The system does not report the temperature over the phone. It just asks for a temperature. I tried to enter 71 and got the three beeps. It does report the temperatures in Fahrenheit when I do a status check in PC Access. Those are accurate. I was just trying to set the heat setting. The thermostat is set to auto/heat/cool. My firmware is 2.16. As I noted in my first message, it is puzzling because the phone access works for other things, e.g., "all on," etc. The OmniLT also regularly sets the temperature back when we enter Night Mode and adjusts it in the morning when we set "off." The inconsistency is what is maddening.

Al,

Are you entering the thermostat number first? The first prompt is for the temperature zone/thermostat number. When you enter the desired thermostat number (most likely 1) it will say the thermostat name/number, give the current temperature, then prompt you for the desired command.

Thank you very much. That is the information that I needed. I was confused because the voice was asking for a temperature. Had it asked for a thermostat or zone, I probably would have figured it out. Thanks again.

Al
