P212S - What happens when battery is drained?

One typical use of the P212S would be with an extended M1 data bus.

Since the P212S is supervised, does anyone know how M1 would handle the situation when the battery backing up the P212S dies?

When the M1 is armed, I've seen where it goes into alarm when it sees remote expander devices "disappear" from the bus when their power supply dies.

If I switch to using a P212S to power the remote expander devices, will the sensing of the remote battery low somehow cause the M1 to know about the imminent failure and not alarm when the expander devices loose power?

Or am I looking at this all wrong?

Thanks

I think is shuts off the device and other devices to not damage the battery. It says Low battery cutoff is approx. 10 volts.

I think when the power dies it will still see the loss of expander device(s)

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I do expect the P212S to shutdown prior to draining the battery and the battery low event to be noted by the M1 if I setup the zone properly.

Still wondering if the loss of expander device(s) will trigger the alarm. I guess I could put in some auto disarm rules based on the battery low. Not sure I like that form a security perspective, but it might beat making the neighbors upset when we have another long power outage. Of course, that's another story all together and I still believe that Santa Claus will bring me one of those Generac units one year. :-)

Battery calc time and factor in temperature and aging.

The PS will report the low battery falure provided you enable that functionality in the zones. The loss of the expansion zones while armed will generate an alarm condition. Only way I can see as a possible workaround, but require testing, would be to program rules based on the condition of that LB zone, such as disarm an "area" that all those zones are assigned to, but following the main "area" for arm/disarm purposes. I've done such in the past on installs with common areas connected to main living areas to follow arm conditions of a main area.
