Panasonic DVR control of a Speco PZT Dome Camera

Hello,

I’m hoping someone can shed some light on a problem I’m having configuring one of Sennetech SCT-Panasonic-8-Pelco translators. I have a Panasonic WJ-HD316A DVR and a Speco HT-650PTDZ Camera. The Camera is connected to the Panasonic’s camera 14 input and I’ve configured the RS-485 output according to the instructions. I have attached screen shots of the 485 Communication protocol and camera 14 configuration settings. When I connect the RJ12 connector from the SCT-8 to the DVR I get the Receive indicator light and the Transmit Indicator to blink each time I request the camera control to move the camera left, right, up or down. However, the camera doesn’t respond. Although I’ve tried all the combinations of address selectors, it doesn’t want to command the cameras to accept any commands from the Output Test Code (configuration dip switch 6) either. I do know that the PZT function does work on the camera, since it will respond to commands issued from a PZT Camera Tester. Here are the relevant setting for each device:

SCT-8:

Output Code & Baud Setting Switch: 2 “P†@ 4800 baud
Address Selectors: 10s = 0 1s=1
Dip Switches: All set to “Downâ€

Speco HT-650PTDZ Dome Camera (spec sheet attached):

Camera ID: 1
Baud Rate: 4800
Protocol: Pelco P
Termination Switch: On

Panasonic WJ-HD316A DVR:

Camera Input: #14
RS-485 Baud Rate: 4800
Parity: None
Data Bit: 8
Stop Bit: 1
Camera 14: Set to Port 2
Camera Control: RS485
RS-485 Port Configuration: Dip switch 4 ON – Port 2 enabled
RS-485 Port Configuration: Dip switch 5 & 6 set to “Off†– 4 wire Mode

Thank you for any help you can provide me.

Best regards,

Todd

Just as an FYI, the supplier of the the Panasonic to Pelco code translator module suggested I change the default camera ID to the same as the ID on the Panasonic DVR (input 14) and it worked!

I thought this might help someone else down the road.

Best regards,

Todd

I read your post earlier and was thinking it was something simple with the addressing. It's been a few years since I've set up an HD316. I was thinking more along the lines of the Pelco D v/s P protocol. The addresses are one off when changing between the two.
Glad to hear you got it working.

Just curious. Why didn't you just use a Panasonic PTZ and go with up the coax control? I think the HD316 will send up the coax control on ports 1 - 8 without any extra hardware.
