PC Access frustration

I recently purchased the PC Access 1105W software so that I could configure my HAI Omnipro II controller. Trying to get anything to work has been a frustrating experience. Clicking communications then network connect I just repeatedly get a Comm Status: Retrying (100) message. I looked at my network switch and it says the board is connected to the switch and the status lights flash. So I installed PC Access on my laptop and misspell the security stamp from my other pc. Input the settings but it still won't connect so then I try to get the two pc's to be able to share files.

Trying to fix that I uninstall and reinstall but I am no longer prompted for the security stamp. In fact it kept my configuration files even after uninstalling and rebooting and then reinstalling all the .pca files that I created popped right back in. This thing is worse than some viruses I've got before. How can I change the security stamp for PC Access? And what can I do to troubleshoot why I cannot connect to the OmniPro board?

Update:
Figured out the important half.. I found in the configuration where there was a place to set a code for the PC Access software specifically, so I changed that on the keypad and was dismayed when that didn't fix it. Another half hour and was trying to find the device on the network. I had remembered reading that it needed to be on the same subnet, my Uverse network defaults to 192.168.1 and the OmniPro defaults to 192.168.0, changing it to match fixed my connection issue. I don't find the documentation very intuitive..but maybe I'm just retarded.

I'd still love to know how to uninstall this software permanantly but I'll definately settle for being able to start setting things up! Just wish I had thought of that before I ordered a serial cable to try that avenue.

I am sorry to hear you are having difficulty with PC Access. Let me see if I can help.

My first suggestion is that when you have problems, call tech support or consult the knowledge base. Both are FREE services. The contact information for tech support and a direct link to the knowledge base are provided under the "Help" menu.

The first general rule is to check for updates and make sure you have the latest version of PC Access. There have been many enhancements and bug fixes since the original release.

In PC Access 3, all of your configuration, account and firmware files are stored under "My Documents\HAI\PC Access\". All of these files are encrypted but if you need to re-enter your security stamp you can delete the PCA01.CFG file when PC Access is not running and the next time it starts it will ask you for the security stamp again. This file is not deleted by the uninstaller, because it was not created by the installer. The general rule as per Microsoft is that the uninstaller should only remove files it installed.

As for the networking issue you are correct about the same subnet. This is a basic networking issue and is not a specific requirement of PC Access. With the incorrect subnet you probably couldn't ping the Omni either.
