PIR Motion Detectors for M1XRF2H

Hello everyone,
I noticed the M1XRF2H only mentions the Ademco 5890 as a compatible motion detector.  Are there others that will work? I've looked at the 5800PIR, but I have read that the Elk isn't fully compatible so you may lose some of the features like tamper monitoring. If the 5800PIR is a good option, do you recommend the 5800PIR-Res or 5800PIR and why? attached spec sheet for reference.

Since I'm asking about compatible wireless motion sensors, I might as well see if you have thoughts on additional wireless contacts in addition the Honeywell line.  Are there other compatible brands that you would recommend?

Thank you,

I believe the 5800PIR should work just fine with the M1XRF2H.   The M1XRF2H follows standard 5800 protocol, and I don't think the 5800PIR does anything out of the ordinary in the way it communicates.   There are other 5800 series sensors that are also not on the list of supported sensors in the M1XRF2H manual that others have used successfully, so that's a good indication the the 5800PIR will work, too.

Whether you choose the 5800PIR or the 5800PIR-RES really depends on whether you care about the additional features the 5800PIR has.   The tamper switches and cold temp alert probably don't buy you much in a residential setting.   But you might like the walk test and the different pet immunity features.  There isn't much difference in cost between the two - usually just a couple of dollars.

There are a couple of other manufacturers of 5800-compatible sensors.  There's the Optex FitLink.outdoor PIR. Then there's the iON Micra door/window sensor which Honeywell re-brands as the Honeywell Micra.  iON makes the Micra in several versions for different wireless systems, so make sure which version you're looking at before buying one.

I have a 5800PIR and numerous other Honeywell 58xx sensors. They all work fine with my M1XRF2H. The range on the 5816's is quite surprising.

My M1XRF2H is mounted in my garage. Garage is fully insulated and never gets above 80 or below 45 degrees.

I don't have a VRCOP, my lighting is Insteon, controlled by an ISY.
