Premise Premise 2.0 activation

Hi Everyone

I just happened to stumble upon this wonderful site and of course was pleasantly surprised to see a forum on Premise, one of the best software I have ever come across. Reading all the posts here, I realized what an enthusiastic bunch of folks are there who are helping everyone else.

I have a small problem. I recently retired my old machine that had premise 2.0 installed on it. I dug out my Premise original CD (dusted it off a bit :) ) and installed it again on my machine. But now I have run into a peculiar problem. This installation does not activate, I think, since Lantronix no longer has the URL up that was used to activate it. So does this mean that I will not be able to use Premise 2.0 anymore?

I did read somewhere that Lantronix did come out with a new version 2.1. But I hesitate to throw away what I have and would love to use Premise 2.0. Has anyone been able to activate Premise 2.0?

Appreciate any help that I could get.

Harris,

I would try uninstalling 2.0 and downloading the full 2.1 version from the links in the wiki found here. I'm not sure about the differences though as I'm somewhat new to home automation and Premise.

Before, I believe I noticed a small bug that if you didn't log into SYS through Builder, you could still click around, but it would show that you're version was not activated. So be sure to log onto SYS, then look at the activation details through Builder.

Hope this helps :)

Just as a fyi....there were some significant changes going from the 2.0 to 2.1, if I recall. I had a couple of modules that wouldn't work after going to the 2.1 - If its not activated, I thought there was a 30 day grace period or something. I'll look - I may have one of the original boxes around; not likely the USB dongle....

But, etc6849 is right...I'd save off the 2.0 (not sure whether you can export or backup to client), then install 2.1, cross your fingers, and hit port 86.....

Hey etc6849 and chucklyons,

Thanks for your quick replies.
So it looks like I have no option but to upgrade to 2.1. Chucklyons, as you mentioned, I too am worried that some of the modules that I was using with my earlier 2.0 installation may not work, and that is bad, but I guess that’s the price one has to pay to be loyal with Premise. I didn't understand "..hit port 86..." though.
