I am heading toward a purchase of a projector in the near future and was wondering which one offers the most bang for the buck in the $1500-2000 price ranges. Any to stay away from???

Depends on what you intend to use it for... Computer projection? DVD? HDTV? 4:3? 16:9? Big room? Small room? You get the idea... I recommend checking out http://www.projectorcentral.com for lots of information and recommendations.

Just an FYI but the Infocus 4805 has been getting great reviews and has a lot of bells and whistles for it's price range.
Cosco has started to carry them in stock for about $1300.
