Rack ears for 3com switch

Anyone have any ideas where I might find rack ears for this 3com switch? It is a Superstack 3 model 3c16980a. I've got a message in to 3com, have Googled the hell out of it.

Hopefully 3COM will reply with an answer. I suspect it uses the same rack ears as many of their other racks too however. So if you can find something listed for another rack, it might be what you are looking for.

Of course another alterative is to either build you own ears or use a rack shelf. If you can find the right size screws to mount the ears to the unit, I don't think bending a piece of metal and making your own ears would be that hard.

I'd go get a piece of 1/2" alum angle and drill some holes before I spent 25 bucks on 2.5 cents worth of sheet metal.

A bit rude in the delivery, eh?

$25 is a bit much for rack ears, that's true enough. That's why you get a spare on ebay that comes with the rack ears! ;) Got a 'make an offer' button on there, you might be able to work him down a bit.

Nah, I didn't take it as rude. Without interacting in person, I really don't think one can infer that sort of emotion.

At any rate, it's a great idea to find another switch that includes the ears - indeed I spoke with 3Com today and they wanted $60.00 for just the rack ears! (Yes, I told them I paid $19 for the switch itself. Dude just kept asking if I wanted to order the $60 ears. I finally said I would make him a deal: $5.00 and a sixpack of beers. He finally laughed.) The switches are such a commodity now, it is really almost comical.

I've got plenty of drill bits and I suspect sda's suggestion to do some drilling will be the eventual solution.
