Rain8 G2 & OmniPro2 Help

Hi all,

I am very new to this and cannot rely on any of the local HAI people to help me, so I am taking on the task to set up my RAIN8 on my own.  I downloaded all material online and read through it a few times but still not following it 100%.   Here is what I have done so far.  I am also running PC ACCESS 3.  I realize that the instructions from HAI are using an older version but I am learning the differences as I go.

I programmed the 3 Rain8 units assigning them the appropriate Module # to start the sequence at 169 for zone 1.  Not sure what to assign for NID.
I created the BUTTON.
I renamed units 169 - 193 accordingly.  I also changed House Code Format to UPB, didn't say to but made sense.

This is where I start to get a little confused.  I don't understand where to create the FLAGS and what they are used for.  I see in multiple posts where people showed there programming that they are needed to program but don't see where to add/create them.

Then with the programming I know how to program the initial trigger to start sequence but need to understand the basics from there.  The code they have listed seems very simple and self explanatory but I see others getting very intricate.

Any and all help would be great.

Do you have the dealer version of PCAccess?

Flags are created in the first tab, "Setup."
9th item down is "Flags", under the "Outputs" section.

Once created, when you are programming in the second tab, "Automation", they are available under the "Control (Unit/OutputFlag)" section in the pull down menus.

Think of flags as internal software switches. They can turn on and off, which can be used to trigger events or used to evaluate the status of things.
They can also be used as timers and counters.

You shoul look at the HAI knowledge base section on flags.

You need to use the NID for your UPB network.
Do you have other UPB devices or HLC?

Yes I do have the dealer version.  Thank you for explaining the flags, I think that I am following a bit more now.  All my devices are HAI, from alarm to lights to tstats.  I don't have any outsider UPB stuff attached to my system.

Would UPSTART have the NID?  I never used it but I'm sure I could figure it out.

NID is a number from 1 to 255.
It's the network ID number, so multiple networks can exist on the same power grid, in adjacent houses that use the same transformer for example.

I believe the default is "1".  You can pick anything.

You need to make sure that the UPB NID set in PCAccess is the same as the one set into the Rain8 so they can talk to each other.

Great.  I will check PC Access later today to see what it is set at.  Do you know where that setting is exactly?  Have you worked with the Rain8 system?

The UPB Delay setting in PC Access is in the Units - Dealer Settings area.

I don't have any hands on with the Rain8, but quite a bit with UPB and the HAI.
I've read all the docs and several threads regarding the Rain8.
