Remote zone/relay/output/etc. restrictions

Are there any restrictions regarding zones/relays/outputs/alarms/sensors/etc. that are remote to the M1G (i.e., hooked to the M1G via the data bus hub)? I know the temperature sensors can only be connected to zones 1-16. If I have a second building set up as "area 2", and the only connection between the Elk hardware in the second building and the Elk M1G in my home is the single RS-485 connection between the two of them, are there any other things I can't do in "area 2"?

Thanks,
Ira

If you will have smoke detectors in the garage/shop you should pull additional wires for SAUX so you can reset the detector(s) from the keypad (technically you can do it with a relay and a rule if you cant pull the wire). It is nice to have smoke detector power isolated from other devices using the SAUX in case there is a fault in the system VAUX your smoke detectors will not be affected.

If possible try and future proof and pull additional wiring if time, funds, space permit.

I thought I did. Twenty years ago when I built the house, I buried a conduit between the house and shop and filled it with various kinds of cable that are now pretty useless (and were never used for anything). I recently pulled all that cable out and replaced it with one RG6 and three cat5e. I may have been able to get one more cat5e in the conduit but I ran out of wire. Probably should have skipped the RG6 in favor of a couple more cat5e pulls and used one of them for video if I ever get to that point.

I was planning on using one cat5e cable for a LAN switch, one cat5e cable for the connection between the remote ELK can and the data hub next to the M1G, and one cat5e cable for telephone (two phone numbers). I guess if I really need it, I have two pairs available in the phone cable.
