Replacing M1G Main Board

Output 2 on my M1G board died (keeps reporting trouble).  I have a replacement board arriving today and am just planning on turning off the system, unplugging the green terminal connectors from the current board and swapping in the new board.
 
Are there any tricks when transferring all of the programming in RP to the new board?  I know RP has the serial number of the old board in the account profile currently, do I just need to change that serial number to reflect the new board and then reupload all of the current programming and then maybe power cycle the board?
 
Any potential gotchas I might encounter when swapping boards?

RP2 allows you to create a new account from a copy of an existing.  I would create a brand new account, copied from your existing (broken main board).  Then update the serial number in the newly created account.
 
Once you connect to the new mainboard and RP2 looks for conflicts, you will see a ton of them.....you want to send the values from the database to the system. 
 
You might need to do something with the M1EXP but Im not sure....I cant remember exactly what I did when I first set mine up but for some reason I thought it involved connectly directly to the board via serial first.

That's a really good point.  I wasn't even thinking that I might not be able to use the M1XEP.  I am really not looking forward to lugging my desktop down to the M1 to reprogram by serial!!

The M1XEP is not linked to the main board in any way.  The process described in Post #2 will work just fine.

Just a small point ... Output 2 is supervised and you can't turn that
off.  Depending on what you're trying to connect to it, you may need a
2.2K resistor in the circuit.  See the "boxed" note on page 7 of the
installation manual.

Thanks sda - Been there and done that unfortunately OUTPUT 2 smoked an ELK-73 speaker it was connected to and afterwards it wouldn't stop reporting trouble, resistor or not.
 
For others that need to replace their M1 system board - you CAN use the M1XEP right after swapping boards.
1) Save a backup of your ELK RP database (in case something goes wrong).  You can find the location of the database in the application's options.
2) Power down and swap the system boards (easy with the unpluggable terminal blocks).
3) Change the serial number in the account details screen 
4) Power up, reconnect, update firmware if required and if so, I recommend disconnecting and reconnecting again.
5) Download the programming to the control when it identifies the conflicts.
 
I found out that you cannot duplicate a preexisting account and then upload that account as Elk RP does not duplicate all of your wireless settings (transmitter IDs).  Accordingly you need to use your usual Elk RP account which is why I recommend taking a backup of the entire Elk RP database.

I had the same problem. Did you buy a new board or have ELK replace it? I'd like to get my O2 back!

I am sending it back to my reseller (aartech in Canada) they were great as they presold me a new board as an advance replacement and they will take the replacement board back as since my board is under six months old elk should do a straight exchange. I don't know if I trust output 2 enough to run a speaker off it again though as a few folks seem to have had this exact issue.
