Retrofit drapery motor?

Hello,
Does anyone have any experience with add on drapery motors for traverse rods (the kind that drives the cord on a motorized pulley mounted to the wall)? I tried the Somfy DR1000 that Smarthome sells and found it to be overpriced and not well executed. Even at its lightest setting, the DR1000 "pulls" the cord very hard at end of travel before sensing either full open or full closed, and I suspect that in time, this force will damage either the motor or the rod. I could put hardwired limit switches on the rod for full open/close and integrate control with my ELK M1, but then DR1000 becomes too expensive for my taste. What about Add-a-motor's solution? Is it any better? Are there others that I should consider. Thanks.
