RFID Phidget / Reader

Hello again everyone !

I have got an RFID chip implant in my right wrist for now 6 months and the PHIDGET fromn Extreme Tech reader works very well with locally controlled relays.

I would now like to integrate RFID authentication to my home automation server but the RFID Phidget I am using is USB and all RFID plugins for homeseer seem to use old com port connection.

I see there is a web service on the phidget application and I can point specific ports with it. I have tried using it along with MCE controller software, yac protocols or some other TCP IP softwares so they catch the VERBOSE generated by the PHIDGET but nothing will do. The phidget applicaiton works well via USB on the same machine. I wish to use it locally ( meaning the USB phidget is connected to the home server machine ).

Can anyone help me with this ?

Can you tell us more about the implant? How long is the implant supposed to last? Was it a costly/painful procedure?

I'm guessing that you never got that software to work that I sent to you?

Vista seems to be your issue, as I'm still able to run the software here at my house.

Negative for the phidget plugin, I have a XP machine networked @ the office, Ill try it there.
Must be related to vista, wont be the first thing
Tried compatibility mode but this option has always been a dead end...

Hello there Dan !

- Implant is about the side of a small tube pill ( tylenol for example )
- Passive RFID chip so very simple and reliable.
- Supposed to be life long and I dont mind since I dont even feel it anymore...
- Pretty cheap, came from a RFID DIY kit with all other types of RFID tags and chips
- I am not a very sensitive person and I really do not fear blood or controlled pain so it was fairly quick and real worth it since I use it everyh day multiple times ( no keys, no worries )
- For those who are scared of needles, well... errrhhhmmm.... It's the biggest one the piercing shop had so its basically pretty gore when the needle/tube streches the skin to make it's way in.
- I have no other peircing and have nothing against them but hey; this one IS usefull, unless some of them actually hang their keys on their nipples. LOL !

So, very happy about the reliability and incredible usability in overall, just gotta get the PHIDGET software plugin to work on my server ...

I like the idea of going to a piercing/tattoo shop to get the implant. That had never occurred to me as all the examples I've ever seen use the gun that vets use to implant dogs with chips. Cool idea. Those who know me here will understand when I say that I'm not averse to hanging at a tattoo shop...

Thx to all my relatives ( vaccum , dishwasher and control pad ) for supporting me all along !
I take this award as an example to our new coming cybernertic world and would like to dedicate a part of this prize to my wife, who is sill outside looking for her keys.

BTW, did you guys know all new born babies in China will have a similar implant in their right shoulder for governmental tracking ?

Next step, implanted earphones on the ear drum ? Hmmmm.. would be so sweet !

Been looking around for a way to get my PDA screen on see-trough glasses but this technology is still way too limited and expensive, altough, many models do exist. As for sound, latest bluetooth device are pretty small and reliable so im good forr a couple years before an "upgrade".

Keep in mind, I might be the biggest geek in Canada but I have one rule, make it as discrete as possible. I mean, the implant was the best thng ever because you cant see it even when staring @ my arm but I wont be walking in the streets with a 10'' LCD ductaped to my forehand ...
