There is a kit they sell that will turn a laptop into a mobile platform like that, it's pretty cheap too. You can make it bark if you really want an electronic dog

OK, that's too cool.

All it needs it a wireless LAN connection (probably already does), girder (so you can send commands from HomeSeer with the HSgirder plugin) and some webcam software. Maybe add a second camera and a ninja so you can look around (have another cam for navigation) You could wonder around your house from a remote location.... And clean-up a bit while you're at it.
