You'd be surprised how warm it gets here. For instance, my phone shows Phoenix is 106 today - that's our forecast for tomorrow - the difference is your lows are 81 where mine are 66. When I first met my wife she always carried a sweater even on the 110° days.
I agree you can adjust - for a long time the hot summers killed me - then I got a boat and a motorcycle - riding in full gear on those hot days, or baking in the sun changes your tolerance for heat pretty quickly. However, we've spoiled ourselves at home.
