Sure, you can connect your entire house on one zone if you like.  Typically motion detectors and windows go on different types of zones.  A motion detector zone gives you a time delay so you can get to the keyboard to turn off the alarm, a window sensor triggers instantly so putting those two types together wouldn't be the best idea.
 
You can put together multiple windows without a problem, just keep in mind the more you put together, the less control you'll have over each. If you put 4 together, and one trips the alarm, you won't know which window it is.  If you want to keep a window open and bypass it for some fresh air, the other three windows will be bypassed as well.

Best case is to have everything on its own zone, though many people like to save zones by combining windows; usually windows are the only thing you'd combine.  Motions/Windows should ideally be on their own zones each.  Generally if you have a room with a bank of windows, people will combine them onto a single zone.  I like to know which window is open though so I separate them out.

Generally, it's a best practice to have any powered device (excluding fire, different beast) on it's own zone.
