Setting up Insteon with M1G

So far I have two switches and a applianceLinc working great with the USB PowerLinc attached to my Mac. Now the time has come to get Insteon talking to the M1G before I start installing a bunch of new switches. Before you ask, I did RTFM and load the latest XSP Insteon firmware. In the M1XSP manual it has two sets of instructions for enrolling devices depending on what firmware the PowerLinc has: above or below 2.12. The problem is that neither method seems to work for me and I can't even figure out what the firmware is on the device. The three stickers on the back of the powerlinc say:
0626
Rev 1.6

V1.1
0347

24145
1706

Figuring out which method I should be using will at least narrow down the number of things I could be screwing up

I believe your PowerLinc is firmware 1.6. Sorry I cannot help with the linking as I used PowerHome to setup all my links.

I have installed several M1's with Insteon and in every case, I have had to reload the core app in the PowerLinc using Smartlab's HouseLinc Desktop. I would highly suggest taking a look at Universal Device's ISY-26 The latest version of the ELK firmware supports uploading the configuration file from the ISY-26 and is supposed to add much better Insteon Support to the M1. I have not personally tried this yet but after linking well over 100 switches to the M1 the hard way I am going to give this a try. I know several here have had great luck with PowerHome so that's worth a look too.

If you do have a way of resetting the PLC core app, I would start there.

BTW, if you have ever used the M1's PLC with Indigo (I assume that's what your using with your Mac) you will have to reload the Core App for certain.

I have a USB version running with Indigo and I would like to keep both if possible. The serial version that I am using was the one that came with the Elk M1G/Insteon package. Is there some way to reset it other than just unplugging it?
My next move is to start filtering nearby power supplies.
