Severe UPB and OPII trouble

Ok, here is the deal. Seems like the PIM is locking up after sending a few UPB commands. Basic, one light commands get through but as soon as I send a multi-light command the PIM seems to locking up. It starts to flash red and green. Shortly after, the network comms with the OPII fail (I think the system is getting overloaded as I see the port 3 LED flashing non stop).
The only things that I changed since it was working 4.0 were were:
-resetted the PIM to factory default.
-installed 1 HLC switch and one spare Simply automated switch that I had around. I did make the mistake in putting the SA switch under HLC but since the problems started I have resetted both switches and taken them out of the network. Problem continues.

Port 3 is set to UPB and serial address to 0. I have tested two separate PIM and 2 cables and I get the same problem with both so I am ruling out a bad PIM. However the second PIM is a GEN I where most of my switches are GEN II.
Please help!!!
By the way is there a way to delete individual switches out of the system other than deleting the names out of PC Access?
I guess what I am trying to ask is how to totally take a switch out of the network using PC Access or the Omni console?

More observations:
I can send 1 or two all on or off commands and the system works as it should. However, after the second ALL command, the PIM just keeps flashing red/green and buzzes. Seemes like it is trying to send and receive but I think it is in a crashed status. Meanwhile, the OPII port 3 LED keeps flashing as it trying to send/receive commands. All network comms fail at that point.
Thanks.

When you say you reset the PIM what do you mean? The PIM has two modes of operation, pulse and message. Make sure it is in the mode you expect (probaly message mode).

I resetted the PIMs to make sure they are in message mode. I believe the 5-10-2 method is use.
Thanks.

D14,

I suspect you have some automation programming that is creating an "infinte loop". Create a new account file without automation programs and download just programs (since there are no programs this will clear the programs) to your controller. If you can now successfully turn things on and off you probably have one or more programs that keep retriggering each other.

Brian,
This is why we need pros like you.
You are 100% right. Did as suggested and everything works 4.0.
I traced back the infinite loop program line although I must admit that I can't figure it out how this line is causing a loop. But when removed, everything works like it should.
Thanks a bunch.

You know, now that I look at it I can see where the loop is.
Thanks again.
