Side Mount Nuvo Essentia E6G

I have a Nuvo Essentia E6G distributed audio amp along with their Sirius tuner. They are 1U each. I wanted to wall mount them with all of my other wiring/home automation gear. For a typical wall mount rack it looks like I'd need to go with an 18" deep rack in order to have enough room in back for the wiring. I was thinking about going with a sideways mount rack solution (See https://www.tselectronic.com/rack/spmrack.html) This would be more space efficient for my setup and I believe would allow easier access to the connections in back than a typical wall mount rack would.

Any reason I shouldn't sideways mount this gear? The cooling vents are on top of the components but they don't appear to get very warm.

I think that mounting the components in the arrangement specified will not harm anything. There are no moving parts in the Nuvo gear so as long as there is ample cooling space between the amp and tuner. I mount desktop computers sideways all the time and have never had a problem.

I have used products from these people, not the wall mounts but But the 4 post to 2 post conversion kits are great. Nice heavy steel.

Rack Solutions

Most rackmount gear takes in cool air in the front and exhausts out the rear so there shouldn't really be a problem. You would want to use some form of wire controls to prevent gravity from constantly pulling on the connections.

Hi,

I can't speak to the Essentia, but I've got the 4RU (SPM4) sideways mount that I'm using for network gear. The SPM4 works well and looks very good. TS Electronics is a great vendor, but I've found that Worthington Solutions (www.worthingtondistribution.com -- also a great vendor) has much cheaper prices on the Middle Atlantic gear such as the SPM4.

Hope this helps,
-Bill
